The most exposed stretch on the coast
Open water on one side, range on the other, and salt through everything.
Cardwell sits right on the channel with almost nothing between the road and the water. Salt air here is relentless in a way it is not even at Mission Beach, and it reaches everything parked in it — paint, chrome, badges, wheel faces and every exposed fastener on the car.
Add the same tropical UV as the rest of the coast and unprotected paint has very little chance. The cars that hold up here are the ones with something on top of the clear coat rather than nothing.
That is what a ceramic coating is for, and why correction comes first — a coating locks in whatever is underneath it.
